Number of connections digital television 1.7% in first quarter - RTL-Z

The number of connections for digital television has increased in the Netherlands in the first quarter by 1.7%, from Monday shows a quarterly report published by Telecompaper.

The number of connections on March 31, 2013 amounted to 6.478 million, according to data from Telecompaper.

by Telecompaper estimated turnover of the market for consumer television EUR384 million, 0.8% more than the previous quarter.

Ziggo NV (ZIGGO.AE) was at the end of the quarter, the largest supplier in both the total television market as the market for digital television. Royal KPN NV (KPN.AE), UPC and Ziggo Canal Digitaal followed in the ranking.

Most consumers receive digital television via cable networks, 56.6% of digital TV customers reached via cable, although there was lost market share compared to IPTV over DSL and FTTH services.

“It is expected that the market for digital television in 2013 by 7.5% to around 6.85 million connections,” says analyst and author of the report Kamiel Albrecht Telecompaper. “The total TV market is growing in the same period to increase by less than 1%.”
