In 1984, violinist Ivry Gitlis played in this first TV recording three pontoons in the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam. Saturday 23 August, violinist Lisa Batiashvili’s turn.
Presenter Frits Sissing says to be on the TV jubilee proud. “Every year it’s a special night in a magical canal, with international musicians, where thousands of local people and hundreds of thousands of people enjoy at home.”
This year, both solo violinist Lisa Batiashvili, the Georgian as her husband, French oboist François Leleux, on the Prinsengracht. Along with fellow musicians they play works by JS Bach, Piazzolla and the Georgian composer Tsintsadze.
Traditionally the Prinsengracht ended with “On the canals.”
