Cable company UPC has unexpectedly begun
support the interactive TV service via HbbTV national NPO
TV channels. However HbbTV is only through a suitable TV and not through the
D4A- and Horizon Media Box available.
UPC offers since last year, the basic package of thirty stations
using the standard subscription digital TV and Radio unencrypted digital form.

This unencrypted channel offerings. By supporting HbbTV can
UPC customers with an appropriate HbbTV television and internal
cable tuner the interactive TV service HbbTV use.
NPO Plus
Part of the new NPO HbbTV platform is the
payment service NPO Plus, part of the unlimited watch service NLziet is.
Not all UPC customers with an appropriate HbbTV can however NPO Plus
advantage. Thus, owners of HbbTV televisions under the brand names
Sony, Philips and Panasonic have HbbTV, but do not use NPO Plus. In this
TV is only Uitzendinggemist available. HbbTV on TVs from Samsung can do – after
coupling of the television to the NLziet Account – NPO Plus to watch

The addition of HbbTV UPC makes CI + module

Dear Mar, I live in Aachen (DE) and I have as a cable operator Unity Media (UPC) I also have here the Horizon Box, it works well but unfortunately does not support HbbTV , however, via the integrated DVB-C tuner of my LG TV, I also had the CI + can use but then they ask 4 a month extra, here’s why I only chose the horizon receiver to view the encrypted HD channels , for this, they do not ask for extra money for, Actually they just force you to use. their Hardware

If you have a modern smart TV, there is absolutely no need for a separate receiver. You can if you connect recording hard disk and the CI module UPC doing fine. HbbTV works perfectly.
‘m Glad I did though. No loose boxes Only the rent for that module I find really ridiculous.
In one year I have this module already paid for itself. At this point I feel robbed by UPC.

Why TV special with a VU + Solo and a new image you have as HBB TV, it added one year ago still nothing far.

HBB TV, you need no CI + module. That stands apart from it. Netherlands 1-3 HD and SD are namely unencrypted passed by UPC

This had Jan-Hein earlier today already written http://www.totaaltv.nl/nieuws/17003/hbbtv-of-npo-yet-to-upc-.html

15 years ziggo client. At the time, launched a subscription with a small box was delivered to. HD quality possible Because of the ease and the environment invested in a CI + module.
It is any interactive service provided. As an argument for not passing HBBTV states that Ziggo offers the same. What is not true, unless you purchase a new decoder. Obviously, one can create one distinguishes user type so with CI + though. Why not
