Mossberg says that Jobs called him after Apple announced that Tim Cook would take over from him. The company reported taking at the time that Jobs would stay connected in an advisory role at Apple.

According to Mossberg Jobs called him enthusiastically and told him about his plans for a TV. “I want you to see it coming, a few months I’ll show you,” Jobs said, according to Mossberg. The journalist believes that this amounts to a full television, not just the set-top box Apple TV, which Apple sells now.

Jobs died yet not two months later from the effects of cancer. Five years later, Apple led by Tim Cook just an updated version of the Apple TV on the market, still in the form of a box that users connect the TV to their existence.

Still went there a few years ago rumors that the company would work on a totally private television. Meanwhile, Apple is trying especially in the US agreements with making TV programs about the installation of the stations in the current Apple TV, with so far only moderate success.
