Sunday in Turkey 13 television and radio stations off the air.
These are stations that are affiliated with the Gülen movement, including the critical news channel Samanyolu Haber TV and Dünya TV, the first Kurdish-language private TV channel from Turkey. The stations are accused of ” supporting a terrorist organization ” with which the Gülen movement is meant.
The Gülen movement is a social movement since the much-discussed corruption scandal in Turkey (which came to light on December 17, 2013) under fire by the Turkish government. Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan claims that the investigations that brought the scandal to light put on rope by Gülen sympathizers to put an end to the reign of his party, the AKP.
