 RGD LCD TV

The American company QD Vision has a new type of light source that television developed makes economical. Therefore LCD screens consume 20 percent less power.

This week, the company won the Innovation of the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award, which is awarded annually by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Images on television are made up of red, blue and green pixels. An LCD TV builds that pixels with color filters that pass through each particular one of these three colors. Are those filters in a conventional LCD TV illuminated with a white light. That means that the energy of all other colors than red light, blue and green is absorbed by the filter. White light since it is composed of all colors of the rainbow.

Improvements

The source of QD Vision specifically produces red, blue and green light. All of the light is therefore used to produce the television picture and is lost in the filters. No energy The technology of QD Vision is so not only energy efficient, the colors that television shows are also vivid. The production process also uses less toxic solvents and comes to pass less cadmium.

QD Vision is a start-up that originated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The technology has attracted the attention of electronics giant Sony and a Chinese manufacturer of television sets. Sony fits the energy-efficient technology in the Bravia line
