Dutch providers look to tackle illegal television – Techzine

The Dutch providers on television engage their customers join hands to tackle illegal internet TV streams. Websites for free or for a small fee, a stream can watch, for example Movie1 or Fox Sports should disappear because it costs the providers money.

The providers are jointly seeking illegal streams and then to identify the person or persons offering the streams. Then the data will be transferred to the police and judiciary to ensure that providers are persecuted and streams be taken offline.

The providers think they EUR million altogether’s missing out by this kind of streams. Though the providers do not yet mapped out how much use is made of such streams, but they say that if 0.5 percent used such illegal stream the damage already running into millions of euros.


 

 Although some providers operate stream there are also many Dutch people or parties from abroad that offer these streams. These are likely to be addressed first.
