The prisoner was in the Halden prison, which focuses on the rehabilitation of inmates. They are encouraged as much as possible to spend time outside their cells and can participate in various sports, music and cooking activities.
All detainees have a smart television in their cells. Which was exploited by the prisoner to send pornography and secret messages to others.
“We have responded when we ongebrukelijk much traffic noticed, and when inmates had more problems than usual with their TVs,” said prison spokesman Jan Strømnes. “Furthermore, we found a prisoner a handwritten note with the login code.”
