“Plans for Apple TV are already years in the refrigerator” – iCreate Magazine

After ten years of research last year, Apple has been decided to put plans for a television in the refrigerator. So says the usually well-informed The Wall Street Journal, which is responding to expectations from investor Carl Icahn. In an open letter Icahn wrote yesterday that in 2016 “ultra high defitinition’ televisions Apple expected.

VideoTelephony and 4K

The Wall Street Journal (pay wall) suggests that Apple indeed has investigated such a television, but it never came to a final product because of the lack of breakthrough features. Apple would have experimented with for example video cameras to video calls (like FaceTime). It was thus recorded who’s in the room was talking. Moreover, it would have a 4K television belonged to the possibilities, which is now being offered by most manufacturers. In this regard, Apple itself surpassed by bringing a 5K Retina iMac on the market.

Rumors Apple TV

However, the features were not innovative enough to take a step in the television market, where competition is fierce. Apple has taken no official farewell of the television project, but the people who worked on other products have been put to it. The rumors about an Apple TV were sparked when Steve Jobs after his death, was quoted that he wanted to develop integrated television set that was easy to use ‘one, and that he had finally solved the problem of the user interface. Also, Tim Cook has said repeatedly that Apple continues to have an interest for the television market.

In terms of hardware, we do not expect much, but it is almost certain that Apple TV will get an update on the upcoming WWDC in early June. Thus there may be an online TV service with approximately 25 channels for a monthly fee and get the new Apple TV support for Siri and its own App Store. Announced at the keynote Apple in March that the current version of the cabinet is reduced in price and that there was an exclusive HBO channel.
