Accenture and Google Glass KPN develop proof of concept for television - Braodband TV News

KPN and Accenture have developed a proof-of-concept for the use of Google Glass and Accenture Video Solution (AVS) in watching, recording and control of interactive TV to enrich the user experience. While this proof-of-concept has not been developed as a commercial product, both companies the capabilities and potential of wearable technologies for television viewers to explore and investigate further.

The two companies will be the prototype at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona demonstrate. They show how Google Glass integrates with the AVS platform for hands-free, voice-controlled interaction and content sharing between Google and Glass TV. They use KPN’s interactive TV, which allows customers to watch TV on different devices and is built on the AVS platform

The demonstration shows three different ways in which the prototype can be used:

1) The advanced remote control. The user can control basic TV functions, such as selecting channels, programs and trailers, adjust the volume, pause, fast-forward and rewind the image. This provides the user with a central platform independent device to the TV to control.
