KPN is working on mobile TV - Telecompaper

KPN is working on a range of products and services that mobile TV is one of them. This allows the provider to know Telecompaper following statements by Eelco Blok during an explanation of the results for the second quarter and the proceeds from the sale of its German subsidiary E-Plus to Telefónica.

A KPN spokesman reports that the operator increasingly looking for products and services that bridge the gap between the fixed and mobile connections. KPN could not say when mobile TV will be launched, but that 4G is ‘excellent’ lends itself to the integration between fixed and mobile.

In 2008 KPN offered even mobile television, then via DVB-H. KPN then introduced three phones with integrated DVB-H receiver, the Nokia N96, the Samsung P960 and LG KB620. With such a device and a subscription to MobielTV people could live watch 10 channels (plus two paid premium channels) in the Netherlands. After one year, the service had 40,000 users, who live an average of 9 minutes per day watching TV on their mobile.
