Documentary about Rixt van der Horst televised – Horses

In the documentary ‘Friesland DOK’ is the story of 24-year-old Rixt van der Horst from Grou central. Rixt has spastic diplegia. Together they are ten weeks premature with her twin brother Brend. In so doing, they suffer from spasms in the hands and feet. Moreover, her muscles are stiff and tight. In addition, she has had a pulmonary emphysema when she was three weeks old and has since held on to asthma. She also has a rare kidney disorder and scoliosis, a curvature of the spine. And if that’s not enough, there is detected the Parry-Romberg syndrome in 2012 at Rixt.
This is an auto-immune disease, which causes a unilateral sight disorder.

When Rixt five years was she was advised to start riding as physiotherapy. The prognosis was that she would never walk. But through the efforts of her parents and a lot of training was different. As a young powerful woman she pushes with talent, precision and determination, becoming the limit of its restrictions further. Rixt has only one goal in mind:. Itself qualify for the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro

The documentary The fencing foarby (The restriction beyond) is Sunday, September 4 from 17:00 every hour on Omrop Fryslân TV. On Saturday, September 3rd at 15:30 and Sunday, September 4th at 12.55 pm the documentary will be broadcast on NPO 2.
