Book ‘El Rey’ is series television – Dagblad de Limburger


                 The book El Rey. From hunter to prey on the corruption accused politician Jos van Rey is filmed. Comedian Raoul Heertje wrote the screenplay.
             


         

What does power with people? That question is central to the four-part television series El Rey. The screenplay is loosely based on the book about the Roermond politician Jos van Rey, where the Limburg journalists Hans Goossen and Theo Sniekers expose a large network where nepotism prevails.
Film producer Elbe Stevens and Media Groep Limburg, publisher of Dagblad De Limburger and Limburgs Dagblad, take the initiative for the series, which in mid-2017 should see the light. The finishing touches to the script. “The book is ours, and we are proud of,” said Branko Eijssen, acting editor of the local newspapers. “The series shows the importance of investigative journalism. As a newspaper we are officially co-producer. We think about the scenario and give input, but it is ultimately Elbe Stevens determines. “

Raoul Heertje for El Rey makes his debut as a screenwriter. The comedian and songwriter is best known for the program, this was the news which the news are highlighted in comical fashion.
