Arte breaks collaboration Polish Television – Total TV

The Franco-German cultural channel Arte breaks the cooperation with the Polish public broadcaster. Since 2001, broadcasters have worked together. Arte is upset about the Polish media policy.

Arte wants to temporarily no relations with the Polish broadcaster TVP now the result is that the freedom of expression, pluralism and editorial independence of public service broadcasting no longer be guaranteed.

The transmitter has expressed its disappointment about the Polish media policy and stopping the long-term cooperation, but also hopes for improvement. The recently passed law allows that the current Polish government can interpret
to key positions within the public service, and as long as there is no change in Arte will not link her name to the broadcaster TVP. The Polish media law has caused much turmoil in their own countries. Poland’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm is therefore also under pressure because of the entry of Poland would now no longer be democratically elected.
