The GGD Groningen begins Friday with a separate team for refugees. The large flow of asylum seekers requires specific expertise and extra effort.
Now there have been accelerated procedures is particularly important that these people are well taken care of and helped . Therefore, the sites in Groningen and eight other municipalities in the province soon visited by specialists from the team PGA, which stands for Public Health of Asylum Seekers.
Many of these refugees have traumas. Once they have a residence permit, they fall under the regular care of municipalities. The GGD also befriends immunizations, TB screening, sexual and hygiene-awareness.
